"Rough Draft" was born of the brilliant mind of a dear friend. Most of us aren’t living in a polished or complete narrative. We’re living in that version of a school essay filled with frantic arrows, crossed-out lines, and disconnected thoughts. But I’ve always found that the best ideas—the ones that actually transform us—live in the margins of those early drafts. When you stop trying to present a perfect narrative, edit out the noise of expectation, and just sit with the "scribbles".
Know that you don’t have to come with a pre-written script or expect me tell you how your story should end. I’m here to grab a red pen (the kind that marks things with curiosity, not judgment), and explore what another version of you might look, sound and feel like.
The octopus was chosen to be the official mascot of the practice because they are highly intelligent and thrive on curiosity, adaptation and transformation. They also punch fish when they are bored, and who doesn't feel that urge every once in a while?

As someone who has spent the better part of the past twelve years in and out of therapy I know how tricky it can feel to choose a counsellor that aligns with your values and goals. Before we dive in to your story, here's a little about mine:
I am an only child and have been told I have only-child syndrome. I don’t really know what that is, but no one says it as though it’s a compliment. I have a massive sweet tooth and have been known to have cake for breakfast on more than one occasion. I am an introvert and probably won’t go to anything that starts after 7pm. Most importantly though, I never grew out of the “why?” phase of being a kid. I became a counsellor because it felt like a natural fit for my innate curiosity to know what motivates people, and how we can use our past to craft our future.
It is important to me to acknowledge that my own rough draft has been shaped by intersecting identities and experiences that may look very different from yours. My commitment is to ensure my draft never becomes the "template" you are expected to fit, and I constantly check my lens and privileges to fill in gaps in my understanding. My values are rooted in anti-oppressive practice and the understanding that complex systems of violence impact our sense of self, community, wellbeing and safety. I believe in an approach that identifies and names systemic violence, and responds with critical hope.
My core values are: critical self-reflection, collaboration, community building, critical hope, naming and challenging systems, consent, playfulness and curiosity
I support individuals and partnerships of all types regardless of gender, sexuality and/or duration or style of relationship. If your draft includes more folks and you’d like to bring them into our work together, please reach out. We can chat about what that looks like and find an option that fits your individual and collective needs.
While I draw from a variety of models of care, it is most important that you feel I am engaged and present with you in the moment. Some approaches I utilize may include:
We will likely work well together if you are looking for someone who is direct and will challenge you, but is also laidback and committed to fostering a genuine relationship with you (bonus points if you end up swearing before I do). My space is created to be chill and comfortable so you can focus on yourself and your story, and I welcome questions you might have about me as a human as well.
I offer free 15 minute phone consultations to see if we might work well together
You can visit the "Book your Service" page if you are interested in booking a session.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions!
